When you don’t feel well, the last thing you want to do is go anywhere. That’s why we try to make things easier by offering virtual visits. Whether you have the flu or allergies or you are looking for confidential support for depression or substance use, you can talk with a provider online by phone or video, in the comfort of your home. All you need is your mobile phone1, tablet or computer.

Learn more before you start a virtual visit

Virtual visits are good for:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Allergies
  • Bladder/urinary tract infection
  • Bronchitis
  • Coughing
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Migraine/headache
  • Pink eye
  • Rash
  • Seasonal flu
  • Sinus problem
  • Sore throat
  • Stomachache
  • Yeast infection
  • And much more, including depression, stress, anxiety, substance use, bipolar and autism

Choose other care for:

  • Testing and treating COVID-19
  • Anything that needs a hands-on exam
  • Anything that needs a lab test or X-ray
  • Cancer or other complicated conditions
  • Chronic conditions

Virtual visits for your mental health

Your mental health is important. If you need to talk to someone, virtual visits make it easy to find and get support from a therapist or counselor. Using liveandworkwell.com opens in a new tab, there’s often no wait and behavioral health appointments are easy to make and keep. Plus, you’ll be able to talk in a safe space about how you feel in the privacy of your home.


Here are some other ways to connect and take care of yourself:

  • Live and Work Well: Log in to liveandworkwell.com opens in a new tab with your access code. Or select your UnitedHealthcare Community Plan from the drop-down menu.
  • Sanvello: An on-demand emotional support mobile app is available to many members to help you cope with stress, anxiety and depression. Eligible UnitedHealthcare members must register using their UnitedHealthcare member ID card.
  • The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Offering 24/7 support through an online chat called Lifeline Chat. You can also call 1-800-273-8255 or TTY 1-800-799-4889 for support.
  • The Crisis Text Line: A free resource available 24/7 to help you connect with a crisis counselor. Text “Home” to 741741.

Please note, virtual visits are not able to test for, treat or provide direction on how to get a vaccine for COVID-19. Please contact your primary care provider or consider other care options if you need care for COVID-19.

Common Questions

    With most UnitedHealthcare Community Plans, you have benefit coverage for virtual visits when:

    • You use one of the provider groups in the virtual visits network
    • You’re getting care for certain non-emergency medical conditions like the flu, colds, pink eye, rashes and fevers. Some plans also include coverage for mental health virtual visits.


    Please check your UnitedHealthcare Community Plan materials or call the Member Services number on your member ID card to confirm coverage.

    Yes. In general, a parent or legal guardian must be present during the virtual visit with a minor who is covered under your plan.

    Virtual visit providers can send prescriptions2 to the pharmacy of your choice. Costs for prescription drugs are based on your plan and are not covered as part of the virtual visit. You’ll only get a prescription if the provider decides you need one.

    When you use one of the provider groups in our virtual visits network for a mental health visit, it may be covered if you have UnitedHealthcare mental health benefits. Check your plan documents for more information about your plan’s specific benefits.
